Meet the Team
Rachel Brown - Business Owner / Manager
Rachel moved from Watford to Ilkeston in 1999 to set up the Ilkeston Osteopathy Centre after buying the business from the previous Osteopath. She lives in South Derbyshire with her husband, son and daughter. In her spare time she enjoys paddle boarding, cycling and walking her Boston Terrier - in fact, anything outdoors!
Rachel worked as an Osteopath at Ilkeston Osteopathy Centre for 20 years but unfortunately in 2019, she had to undergo bilateral hand surgery which was unsuccessful, so has since had to retire from Osteopathy.
She still owns and manages the business and her passion for Osteopathy and the patients that enter the practice remains the same.
If you phone the practice, she will be the voice at the end of the line offering her expert knowledge and making sure you are able to get in as quickly as possible to see one of the team.
Laura Bayley - Osteopath
MSc Ost Med.
Laura graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University with a Master’s degree in osteopathy, with additional qualifications in cranial osteopathy and kinesio-taping.
Laura is a very friendly osteopath who has developed a wealth of experience in treating a wide range of musculoskeletal dysfunctions.
It is important to Laura to identify and treat the cause of the musculoskeletal dysfunction or condition, which she then fully explains to the patient along with the treatment needed.
She works together with the patient to prevent the injury from re-occurring, as well as giving patients the tools in the form of rehabilitation exercises and stretches to manage their injury at home.
In her spare time Laura enjoys playing football and going to the gym.
Ryan Smith - Advanced Soft Tissue Practitioner
Ryan is an Advanced Soft Tissue Therapist, specialising in Advanced Sports Massage Techniques. Qualifying in 2016, he brings a wealth of experience to the table.
In 2018 Ryan was invited to join the GBuW Ice Hockey Team in their winter training camp at the International Ice Hockey Centre of Excellence in Vierumäki, Finland. Here Ryan worked alongside the GB coaches, assisting with on-and-off ice warm up and helping the players stay injury free. Ryan also has had the pleasure of working with Adam ‘Tango’ Holland, an extreme endurance runner, elite athlete and multiple World Record Holder. He has provided his services to Adam on multiple occasions helping him to stay injury free and able to continue running at different events.
Ryan also works frequently with International Ball Hockey Player Matt Wragg, and over a few short years Ryan has developed a positive working relationship with Matt, coming to understand the requirements Matt has to stay in shape and game fit. One of Ryan’s biggest achievements as a therapist was probably November 2019, where he was invited to be the Lead Therapist to the Ultimate Strongman Team World Games, here his skills were put to the test on some of the biggest and strongest men on the planet!
Ryan is the regional representative for the Sports Therapy Association, being respected by his colleagues, peers and therapists alike. Ryan also heads the therapy department for both Ilkeston RUfc and Derby Elks.
Ryan is a firm believer in delivering a world class service, and has the motto ‘’Do ordinary things, extraordinary well’’ and believes in education, mind-set and wellness approach. We are lucky that he is now bringing his unique personality and skill set back to Derbyshire to welcome both new and old clients to the practice.
